Car boot sales have been popular for many years and they are a great place to pick up a bargain. Some people may frown on shopping at car boot sales but if there is a perfectly good item, whether it be furniture, a cd or a mirror why go out and, not only pay full price but also use the worlds resources to make a new one when there is a perfectly good second hand item which suits your needs.
Finding Car Boot Sales
First of all you need to find when the car boot sales in your area are scheduled.
Sundays are often the most popular days for car boot sales, along with Bank Holiday Mondays though you can often find car boot sales on a Saturday as well as some which run over the two days of the weekend. Local papers and shop windows are an excellent source of info on up and coming car boot sales. It is really just a case of keeping a look out.
Buying at a Car Boot Sale
You may not really know what items to expect to see at a car boot sale, but basically it can really be a wide range of goods, and it does depend on if the seller is a private seller or a trader. On a traders stall you would expect to see new items, though they may be seconds or last season.
On a private sellers stall you would expect to find used items, such as DVDs, CDs, Videos and LP's. You could also see old Stereos, Pottery, Pictures, Furniture and Vases to name a few. I am sure we have all heard stories where people have made a car boot purchase for a few pounds and later on it has turned out that the item was actually antique and worth quite a lot of money.
Though, if you want to be in with a chance of finding such an item you will have to be up and about very early, as otherwise the professional buyers may already have snapped up anything of value.
This does not mean that you won't find a useful item at a bargain price later in the day as there is a good chance you will, it all depends on what you are after. For example if you are looking for children's clothes, there is a good chance that you will find items that have hardly been worn, and in some cases which have not been worn at all as children grow so fast and their clothes don't always get used.
