Save On Travel

There are many types of Travel on which we can make savings, not just on early bird or late deals either! We have put together a few pointers to help you find a cheaper Holiday or Short Break. Always remember that the choice of how you pay for your travel could reduce the overall price even more.

Rail Travel

Low Cost Air Travel

When booking Air Travel look to see if it works out cheaper for you to fly from and to a smaller airport as quite often it is. Also check out the budget airlines and also the price comparison websites. Bear in mind the additional costs of transferring from your airport to your destination. It may still work out cheaper than using a larger airport.
Before you start checking online though make a list of exactly what you want included in your flights as quite often with budget airlines you are not allowed luggage without paying additional costs and there may be a few change overs on long haul flights, with long waits between changes. Some low cost airlines even charge you to go to the loo nowadays!, so what looks like a cheap deal may end up much more costly than you first thought.
Check out the cost via a Travel Agent before you begin your search then at least you will have more of an idea of exactly what is a good price. Many travel agents may be willing to match any online price you find.

Cheap Ferry Crossings

Much the same applies as with Air Travel. Know what you want, get an idea of price then see if you can beat it. Many companies such as P & O Ferries offer some great deals now especially if you book early. Offers include Mini Cruises which are often on offer as a 2 for 1 promotion, on this deal you could get a Cruise from Hull to Bruges for £70, based on 2 people travelling on foot (there is a small charge for parking at the docks). These deals can be booked online through a cashback website which means you save even more money.

This offer is as follows:-

Day 1 Check in at Hull from 14:30 to 17:30 @ 19:00 ship departs from Hull for an overnight cruise.
Day 2 08:30 arrive at Zeebrugge, 09:00 coach leaves for Bruges and arrives at Bruges Central Station at 09:30. You have the day to explore Bruges and the coach departs at 17:30, you depart for Hull at 19:00.
Day 3 Arrive back at Hull.

You have the option of staying in Bruges overnight but it would be up to you to arrange your accommodation, though P&O Ferries does have a link to Superbreaks for your convenience.

This is one of the offers available and again it is best to check exactly what is included and what isn't as although it is great value for money you may decide it isn't exactly what you want.

Cheaper Coach Travel

Deals on coach holidays can be really great value for money, especially if you hunt for a late deal as these often have quite a lot knocked off the price.
If you aren't too keen on flying, coach holidays can be a really good option or if you are thinking of having a weekend away with a stay over it can actually work out much cheaper than paying for petrol, parking and your own accommodation as the coach holiday companies can get some really great hotel deals.
